A study by Swedish telecom equipment manufacturer Ericsson suggested that at least 40 million Indians can subscribe to 5G in the first year of its roll out. The existing base of 22% users with smartphones that are 5G compatible can help with the quick adoption of 5G technology in India.
The report adds that Fixed Wireless Access has a great potential in India and mentions that a third of urban users find 5G home broadband to be extremely relevant.
With an increase from 2019, 67% of Indians have an intention to take up 5G once it is available. Consumers are also willing to pay 50% more for 5G services.
