EU court backs Lego in German design rights case

Lego, the Danish toymaker, received the support of Europe’s second-highest court on Wednesday in its battle for design rights to its colourful snap-together plastic building bricks, which are familiar to millions of children around the world. “EUIPO failed to examine the relevance of the application of the exception relied on by Lego and failed to take into consideration all the features of appearance of the brick,” judges said.
