Twitter declared on Tuesday that it has a zero-tolerance policy towards child sexual exploitation. The statement came when an FIR was registered by Delhi Police’s cyber cell with child pornographic contents on Twitter.
Twitter said, “We are against the exploitation of children & are aggressively fighting online child sexual abuse as well as invest in detection & removal of such content that violates Twitter rules.”
Twitter uses PhotoDNA technology, proprietary tools & other systems to detect behavioral signals & remove media linked to any such content before the first tweet is posted. Twitter strictly prohibits viewing, sharing, or linking to child sexual exploitation (CSE) material. This includes media, text, illustrations, or computer-generated images. Also, content that would victimize children through promotion or glorification of CSE. Twitter defines a minor as any person below the age of 18 years. In 2019, a feature was launched in search prompt for deterrence of CSE. CSE-specific keywords in Hindi, English, Bengali & Kannada were blacklisted.
