US seeking to Protect Critical sectors from Cyber attacks

“Our aim is to ensure that control systems serving 50,000 or more Americans have the core  technology to detect and block malicious cyber activity”- Anne Neuberger, Deputy National Security Adviser.

The Administrative concerns are manifested through the Public-Private Partnerships about the vulnerability of vital systems, including the electric grid and water treatment plants to hack that could cause catastrophic consequence to American life. Though there is an adequate history of the officials working with utilities, however, the officials believed that the concern in the present times is grave due to the fact that there are more and more utilities connected to the internet and the Biden administration wants to make fast progress in blocking any attacks.

The Nation’s 1,51,000 public water system lacks the financial fortification of the corporate owners of nuclear power plants and electrical utilities. They are essentially a heterogeneous patchworks, less uniform in security as well as technology as compared to other rich countries.
