YouTube to Pay $100 Million to Content Creators for its TikTok Competitor

Youtube announced a $100 million fund to people who will make popular videos for its new platform, ‘Shorts.’ Shorts will compete against social media platforms like Snapchat, Tiktok and Instagram reels. The fund will be set up in the coming months.

Youtube said it will distribute the funds in the coming months and through 2022. Anyone who makes unique shorts which delight the Youtube community is eligible. The company will reach out to the creators who have received the highest engagement every month.

Youtube has not clarified on the metrics that will decide who gets paid and how much. The company will be disclosing more information soon.
